Bio

Jared Smith is an award-winning LA-based composer and conductor from North Carolina. In the past year, he’s worked as a composer assistant on some of the largest productions in the world, such as Bridgerton, Bob Marley: One Love, The Color Purple, Marvel's Secret Invasion, Disney’s Haunted Mansion, and the upcoming Dreamworks animation The Wild Robot! In the past several years, he’s won many significant awards, such as the SCL Menteeship, the Guild of Music Supervisors Menteeship, The Reel Change Grant, and the Anne Spencer Composer Fellowship at VCCA. Recently, Jared was selected to participate in the Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive this past January, where he conducted and recorded his piece on the famous Eastman scoring stage on the Warner Brothers lot. From there, participants are then selected for the program’s summer intensive. Last month, as a part of the LAFCI Summer Intensive, Jared wrote and conducted his piece with the National Costa Rican Symphony for two sold-out nights. He’s also assisted some of Hollywood’s top composers, including Kris Bowers. Jared also has exceptional interpersonal skills due to living/studying abroad in four countries and excellent communication and multitasking abilities. Jared has a Bachelor’s in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University and a Master’s in Scoring for Film, Television, and Video Games from Berklee College of Musics Campus in Valencia, Spain. Jared has also studied at the Film Scoring Academy of Europe in Varna, Bulgaria, and spent a semester abroad studying jazz and composition in Paris.​
